What Do We Choose?
Life is an enigma...It starts without our knowledge, grows without our suggestions and ends without our consent. Life is not about 'either-or', its all about 'this-and-that.' This is a space where joy and sorrow walk hand in hand, this is a space where triumph and disaster are two sides of the same coin, this is a space where all and none exists!!!!! It is on us.... what we wish to see and what we choose to ignore. Failure brings with it the joys of learning, the knowledge to appreciate that its human to err and the wisdom to accept that certain things are beyond our control. Life is beautiful with all its colours, some bright some dull some in stark contrast while some in shades. Its the amalgamation of all that makes it so rich. The light wouldnt be welcome if there was no darkness, success wouldnt be celebrated if there were no fear of failure, a smile wouldnt be appreciated if there were no tears. The good and the bad, the beautiful and the ugly, the right and the wrong- they are all within us. its all about what we choose and when?? Happines is a choice and not a chance. Afterall, life is 15% of what happens to us and 85% of how we react to it. As Henry Ford said, "If you think you can or you can't, you are always right." So today, lets make a choice....... How to Stay Motivated Despite Negative People Getting motivated is sometimes easy enough to do, at least for short periods of time, but staying motivated can be a lot harder to do. This past June family members came from all over the country to celebrate my son's graduation from high school. While sitting on the baseball field with picturesque mountains in the background, memories of parenting flooded my mind. I thought about how rapidly my children had changed and how I had to let go of some of my expectations in order to stay connected with them. As I eagerly awaited the moment of my son's graduation, the valedictorian read an inspiring poem and a few students performed original inspirational songs for the occasion. And then the principal addressed the students and their families. She made reference to Spencer Johnson's classic parable about change, "Who Moved My Cheese." It is a paradox of life that while our children change rapidly, we as adults try to put the brakes on the speed of change. We like to think to some degree we are in control of our life by holding on to what we're used too. "No," Hem quickly responded. "I like it here. It's comfortable. It's what I know. I've always thought of challenges as frustrating, maddening obstacles keeping me from where I want to be.
